Divided We Fall

(Movie Analysis of Captain America: Civil War)
by Eli Dizon

We thought we’ve seen it all–the action, the suspense, the awe. We’ve seen them rose in unity. Now in Captain America: Civil War, how should we respond if we witness the earth’s mightiest heroes fall?

“’Action-packed’ is an understatement. Kung gutom ka sa mga fight scenes at excited kang makitang maglabu-labo ang paborito mong heroes, this movie is for you.

A showcase of superhuman power and abilities. Inaabangan ito dahil sa standoff between two opposing factions: Team Captain America at Team Iron Man.

Two sides fighting for their own ideals, for what they believe is right. In an effort to achieve their own goals, they have to settle with aggressive negotiations, thus the civil war.

Jesus knew their thoughts and replied, “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart. (Matthew 12:25, NLT).

One item of black propaganda after another. One scandal after another. Nevertheless, the goal is the same, to demean, to degrade, and to destroy.

Madaming nangba-bash, nagagalit at pagkakaibigang napupunit. Kung ginagawa mo ito, you are fanning the flames of war without knowing it.

We fight among ourselves while we forget who the real enemy is. But he’s right there, laughing as we destroy ourselves in the process. He is the root cause of our problems. But because we’re so full of ourselves, we fail to deal with the source. Hence, he keeps doing what he does and gets away with it.

With all the drama and timeliness that this movie gives, I give it a whopping 5/5 rating. You will enjoy watching how a very young Spidey fights and how Antman contradicts his very name as he turns into a giant. You will fall for Black Widow or Scarlet Witch dahil imba ang beauty and abilities nila.

Above all the fun and action, I pray that you also learn the crucial lesson. A kingdom divided can never stand. “Divided we fall!”
